You're a golfing... Noobie!

Congratulations, by completing this quiz, you’ve proven just how dedicated you are to upping your game! The ins and outs of golf may be a bit of a mystery to you, but you’re eager to learn. And by investing time and energy into educating yourself, you’re well on your way to lower scores and bigger wins...

“The more I work and practice, the luckier I seem to get.” — Gary Player

Three Tips to Shave Strokes Off Your Scorecard

1. Get to Know Your Gear

Every golfer has experienced it: you think you’ve hit the perfect shot — your ball sails towards the flag... only to end up either 10 yards short of the green or flying it altogether. Maybe you think something like, ‘Shoot, how did I miss that? It seemed so straight forward!’

Here’s the thing though, each club has a unique loft, an angle that controls trajectory and range. If you don’t know the average distance you hit a ball with each golf club in your set, there’s no way you’re going to be playing at the top of your game. So grab a bucket of balls, hit the driving range, and really get to know your gear.

2. Perfect Your Posture

You can’t swing your best off balance, so commit time finding a stance that works for you. Try holding the club in front of your belly button. Keep your arms and legs straight, and stand tall with your shoulders pulled back.

Next, tilt forwards at your hips while making sure your lower back stays flat. As the club lowers to touch the ground behind the ball, flex your knees just a little — but don’t overbend. Now you’re ready to hit that sucker home!

3. Don’t Overthink

It’s all too easy to become your own worst enemy on the course. And the last thing you want to do is take the fun out of golf by second-guessing your shot. Trust what you have instead of what’s ‘correct.’ Consciously trying to control your body is guaranteed to bring more distress than success. So save those analytical thoughts for the driving range…

On top of that, try not to get discouraged by the occasional wayward shot. Focusing too much on correcting whatever went wrong will only build up more tension in your body.
