There are 7 simple steps to create a high converting personality quiz in 2026, this is the easiest possible way to begin growing your email list with a personality quiz. I spent all of 2025 researching and conducting over 100 interviews to distill this process down into its simplest form. Here are the steps.
- Define 3-6 personality types
- Write 5-10 questions
- Write email opt-in form
- Give your quiz a title
- Write results emails
- Make a post for your quiz
- Add your quiz to your website and link in bio
Now we will walk through exactly what to do for each of those steps. Interact is the best software for making lead generation quizzes, but these steps apply no matter what software you choose.
Step 1: Define 3-6 personality types
For each personality type, you want the following to be included.
- Overview (25-50 words): Speak directly to the quiz taker and give them an overview of their personality type. Talk as if you are speaking to a friend.
- Context (25-50 words): Give context about how this personality type relates back to the life of the quiz taker, and make it relevant to the quiz topic. Examples include: how this personality type shows up in your work, your relationships, your habits, your health, etc.
- Free Recommendations (25-50 words): Give free recommendations for this personality type to improve their life. This is where you showcase that you can be truly helpful to the quiz taker.
- Your Product Recommendations (25-50 words): Recommend your products, services, or content in the context of this personality type, include a call to action button to see those suggestions.

Step 2: Write 5-10 questions
Write 5-10 questions, following these guidelines.
- Each question has one answer choice that connects to each personality type. That way when you set up the personality scoring logic, the quiz is accurate. So write your questions, and then in the answers to each question, write an answer that connects to each of your personality types. So you will have the same number of answer choices for each question that you have personality types.
- Vary the topic of each question. Each question should ask about a different part of the personality of the quiz taker. Make each one different to keep the quiz taker engaged throughout your quiz.

Step 3: Write your email opt-in form
This is the exact formula you should follow to maximize how many people opt in through your quiz.
- Opt-in form heading: “Enter your email to get your full results”
- Opt-in sub-heading: I will send you a complete breakdown of your (blank) type – fill in the blank with the topic of your quiz.
- Leave the opt-in form optional, and if someone skips it they can still see the basic version of their personality type in the quiz itself, but they will not receive the full version that you will send by email.

Step 4: Give your Quiz a Title
There are two title formulas that work for personality quizzes.
- Find Your (Topic) Personality – for example “Find Your Diet Personality”
- (Topic) Type Quiz – for example “Diet Type Quiz”

Step 5: Write Quiz Results Emails (500-1,000 words)
Write an in-depth email for each of your personality types and set up an automation in your email marketing software to send those emails when someone opts-in through your quiz to get their full personality type report.
- Make these emails comprehensive, give lots of details about the personality type and scenarios that they might encounter, with suggestions for how to live their best life.
- Interact integrates directly with all major email marketing softwares like Kit, Flodesk, Mailchimp, HubSpot, and Klaviyo, so you can set up an autoresponder that sends the result emails right away when someone opts in through your quiz.

Step 6: Post about Your Quiz on Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Podcast, etc.
Make a post about the topic of your personality quiz by highlighting the different personality types and then prompting viewers to comment “QUIZ” to take your quiz and find their personality type. There are two main ways to post about your quiz.
- Make a post where you talk about or show the different personality types
- Make a post where you talk about or show what it is like if you are not optimizing for your personality type
Those two types of posts are good content on their own, if no one comments you can still have a good post. But, they will make people curious to know which type they are, and it will prompt people to comment to take your quiz.

Step 7: Add your quiz to your website and link in bio
For ongoing lead generation, add your quiz prominently to your website head navigation as well as to your link in bio. That way, when someone is watching any of your content and taps your link in bio or visits your website, they will have the opportunity to take your quiz and join your email list. This is how most creators get a steady stream of leads from their quiz in addition to when they post about it.
