You've become a passenger in your work. It's time for you to Lead from the Front.
Your Boldness Blindspot:
You’ve become a passenger in your work.
Hey. It's ok. At some point or another most of us have found ourselves coasting along in our work. The thing is, you’re not really the passenger-type and you’re longing to find a way to get back into the driver's seat. Smart, driven people will start a business/career with gusto, then get so adept and natural at it, they settle into a predictable routine. Maybe you're not finding as much meaning within your work as you used to. Maybe you’re playing it safe and sticking with what you think is expected or considered acceptable, or normal. Maybe you’re bored but can’t quite see what’s next.
What you might be feeling:
Hesitation about what’s next
Untapped potential - like you’re flying under the radar, or staying a best-kept secret
Limited, constrained, like something is missing from your work
Avoiding risks or being ‘too’ vulnerable
Disconnected or low engagement with your community, team, clients etc
Uncertain about your vision and direction
Your Growth Opportunity:
Lead from the front*.
When you boldly ‘lead from the front’, you become intimately connected to the purpose of your work: why you do what you do, who you serve, and how this impacts your greater world/environment. Regardless of your role or position, you can take a stand for what you believe in by sharing your vision and longing with others (your team, clients, community, peers, essentially: your world).
There are two essential components to becoming a bold ‘leader from the front’: Direction + Connection.
1. Setting a direction: This is your ability to articulate your vision and longing to the people you most want to connect with. It requires you to take a stand, commit to it and continuously orient yourself, your offerings, communication and decisions to that end. Once you set a direction, you can invite your people to go with you with courage and conviction.
2. Creating Connection: This is about creating resonance and engagement with your team, clients, community, and peers around your vision and longing. To create connection with your right people, consider how to actively collaborate with them by listening deeply, having open dialogue, idea sharing and making time for more generative conversations. Connection happens when you are willing to be transparent and vulnerable and share your bold vision from your heart.
For the sake of being bolder in your work and life, start with these powerful prompts:
The grander vision I hold for my work is...
I am ready to take a stand for...
For the sake of my vision, I’m willing to risk...
The courageous conversation I’m ready to have is...
I was born at this time in history in order to…
