Stress Eczema Subtype
Stress comes in many forms--perceived, emotional, physical-- some we don’t expect or recognize. It can affect the ability to recover and heal due to prolonged impact on brain-adrenal communication. Usually stress subtype is stacked on top of other subtypes but occasionally the trigger seems to be solely a stressful trigger event without much else explanation. When that happens, the eczema usually resolves as stress resilience is improved and the stressors are removed. Because nutrients and microbiome balance can also be compromised as stress hormones increase, repleting micronutrient deficiencies and microbiome rebalancing (often with the help of a skilled practitioner) can be essential pieces to calming the stress subtype. Overall, anyone with stress subtype should consider how to support the adrenal glands and natural cortisol pattern. This subtype resolves slowly because changing stress for the host is often not simple or easy and nourishing organs most taxed by stress can take several months. Most eczema cases have elements of every subtype but this quiz identifies the dominant subtype.
