Your Type is... Post-Pill
"Wait, really??"Yep! PCOSers who have recently come off of hormonal birth control in the last 2 years can sometimes experience what's called an "androgen-rebound." This means that, while your brain + hormonal system are coming back online after being artificially regulated for so long, things can be a bit bumpy. Your body may actually respond with a temporary surge in androgens, the "male" hormones that are responsible for most of our symptoms (think: acne, irregular periods, hirsutism/chin hairs, hair loss, etc).As the Post-Pill Type, you probably: Had normal periods before starting the pill (and subsequently coming off of it)Have not had a period for approx. 3 or more months post-pillMay or may not have acneDo not have insulin resistanceMight have polycystic ovaries on an ultrasound (and no! You technically don't need to have ovarian cysts to be diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome!) (PSST - does this result not feel like you? Email us at support@holisticPCOSmethod.com and we'll figure out the right one for you)In the long run, it's important to have an understanding of how to address all of the root causes, including insulin resistance, thyroid issues, inflammation, other hormonal imbalances, and gut imbalances. This doesn't mean the other PCOS Factors like insulin or inflammation aren't contributing, but it's best to get a handle on recovering from hormonal birth control (HBC) first. So what should you do about it? Check out our blog post breaking down The Post-Pill PCOS Type + Three Tips for HealingAnd in the meantime, meet our Founder:Hi, I’m Samantha Lodge, Founder & Head PCOS Nutritionist at Holistic PCOS 👋 I founded the Holistic PCOS Method™ after feeling confused, overwhelmed and frustrated by my PCOS symptoms (you name it, I experienced it). After more than a decade on the pill, I wanted to find a more natural approach to managing my PCOS, but every doctor or naturopath I saw seemed to only offer a prescription for the pill or an arsenal of supplements and fad diets.I was determined to find more natural ways of managing my condition that put ME in control of my health. Fed up by the lack of support and competing information on Google, I enrolled in nutrition school. I soon discovered that leading PCOS Associations recommend diet and lifestyle fixes as the first line of defense in PCOS treatment. So why hadn't anyone told me that, and why were there SO many different opinions? How and where should I even start overhauling my health and my life?? I decided to take control and I began sifting through the PCOS research, trialing everything on myself. And now, more than 3 years later, I've compiled all the cutting-edge research and best-practices for PCOS into one comprehensive program to help other women take control of their PCOS and learn how to reverse their symptoms naturally, using the best available science--the Holistic PCOS Method™.Looking for a Little Extra Guidance?1.
