Your root issue is Yin deficiency
Your root cause pattern is Yin deficiency. This can be the result of overwork, long standing health issues or stress that deplete your inner resources or your constitution, which is the genetic imprint you bring into this life. Regardless, it’s important to know that you can support your body to nourish and revitalize Yin and shift this pattern for yourself.Yin deficiency is perhaps the most common modern root cause of illness. We live in a time and culture that largely values Yang, which relates to productivity, doing, action, risk, pushing, achieving and the like. Meanwhile, Yin is about rest, rejuvenation, being, nourishment, orientation towards nature’s rhythms, slowing down, reflecting and so on. We need both, yet when the dynamic balance between the two is off, the fire of Yang will burn you up! This can look like what’s commonly called adrenal fatigue or burnout. Although, it is also lurking in overwhelm and exhaustion and a true depletion or lack of connection to your inner resources. Yin is what provides substance for the reproductive life cycle to even exist. It’s the ripe ovum, the womb lining, breastmilk, cervical fluid and all the juiciness of erotic life. You may relate to feelings of exhaustion, dryness, irritability or restlessness. Sexually, you may find yourself quick to climax but unable to sustain arousal for longer periods of time. Your desire may fluctuate quickly or be challenging to find at all!Healing Yin deficiency often requires an assessment of your own priorities and a reorientation to the body’s very real needs moment to moment. It requires time and trust that all the small action steps add up to greater vitality and ease long term. I’m glad you’re here to start to make some changes at the root level of nourishing Yin.Some potential problems associated with Yin deficiency: Short cyclesLong cycles Heavy or irregular bleedingNot enough cervical fluidNight sweatingSmall, stringy clots in menstrual bloodInfertilityLow estradiol Vaginal dryness Vaginismus Vulvodynia The top 3 recommendations to nourish and revitalize Yin in your system:1. Resting at certain times of your cycle. It’s essential that you rest during the menstrual phase of your cycle. This can look like taking a day off, but often requires that you get creative and ask for more help when possible. Above all else, it’s an internal shift in what you expect of yourself during your bleeding time. Physical rest is essential but so is letting your mind and heart be at rest as your Blood is released. If you’re pregnant, experimenting with more rest is equally essential as your body prepares for the work of birth and early mothering. 2. Nourishment through food. Yin is most quickly replenished through mineral dense foods, like organic, free range or grass fed animal products and a variety of fruits and preferably cooked vegetables. Eggs and pork have a particular affinity towards nourishing Yin. Broths, soups and stews are also more Yin supporting in nature. Leafy greens, root vegetables and healthy fats can feel nourishing as you heal at this root level. Be sure you are eating enough for your constitution and eating foods that work for your body. 3. Work with the Womb Heart connection. With Yin deficiency there is often an element of the Kidney and Heart axis that is interrupted, which affects the connection between the Womb and the Heart. Work with this by ensuring you get enough rest at night and minimizing screen use after sunset. You can also take time to place one hand on your Heart and one on your Womb each day and receive from this place. Read more about the Womb Heart connection here. If you’re able to implement a few of these changes and stick with it for 2-3 months, I think you’ll see some significant changes and be more rooted in your womb cycle vitality, hormonal resilience and sexual expression.
