THE FARM This is first on our list for a reason and a must-stop spot if you have kids and are visiting Door County. We get an annual pass because our kids love visiting here so much! You’ll see all kinds of baby animals, from goats you can bottle feed to piglets to chicks and kittens!2. HANDS ON ART STUDIO This is a great option if you happen to have bad weather (and even if you don’t!) They have multiple outbuildings with different art projects to choose from like spin art (my kid's favorite!), jewelry making, canvas painting, mosaics, ceramics, and more! Make sure to buy a bag of corn and feed the horses on the property!3. KURTZ CORAL Whether you’re a new or experienced rider, you’ll love the riding stables at Kurtz Coral. My girls ask to visit Jesse (their favorite horse) every time we drive into Door County.4. AL JOHNSON’S Goats on the roof, swedish pancakes and the largest dollop of whip cream ever on hot chocolate? Your kids will be begging to come back every time you’re in DC.5. FEEDING THE CHICADEES Feed the chickadees at Peninsula State Park. All you have to do is grab some seeds at the nature center and hold out your hand and you’re guaranteed a visit from these sweet little birds.6. PC JUNCTION The restaurant has a train that delivers your food and entertains the kids! Grab an ice cream cone when you’re done with dinner and head out back to the 4 person bikes, feeding pigs, giant chess set and more!7. WHITEFISH DUNES STATE PARK This is our girls’ favorite hiking area. If you hike up the tower in Whitefish Dunes State Park called Old Baldy, you can see both Clark Lake and Lake Michigan from one spot because they are so close!8. WASHINGTON ISLAND FERRY Take the ferry over to the famous Washington Island! Your kids will get a kick out of being able to bring your car on a boat! Check out the lavender fields and schoolhouse beach!9. SKYWAY DRIVE-IN THEATRE Nothing like a good ol’ fashioned drive in theatre! We try to make it here once a summer and our kids love watching a movie under the stars.10. WILSON’S ICE CREAM Wilson’s has been around since 1906. You want to see and learn all the things and not miss anything. Some must-see Door County spots include: Jens Jensens winding road, paint graffiti on Anderson’s dock, Cave Point (the most photographed spot in all of Door County!), the lavender fields of Washington Island or check out Door County from the water with a sailing trip with Sail Door County.Did you know Door County has a total of 11 lighthouses? Why so many? It’s because the waters along the peninsula have proven to be treacherous and the cause of many shipwrecks since the 1800’s (an estimated 275 in total)! Whether you love architecture or are looking for a photo opp and some history, it’s a fun outing to add to your vacation itinerary to visit one of the lighthouses or Shipwrecks. You can check out the shipwrecks a few different ways including shipwreck diving, clear-bottom kayaking, boat rides or one of the maritime museums.Something else you might love as someone who likes the action on vacation is that Door County is known for its festivals throughout the year that bring people out to celebrate. Hike up to Old Baldy and you’ll be able to see both Clark Lake and Lake Michigan!Rock Island: Take the ferry to get to Rock island and you’ll find over 10 miles of hiking trails, Wisconsin’s oldest lighthouse, a historic boathouse, and places to camp.Newport State Park: You’ll find this park at the very tip of the Door County Peninsula in Ellison Bay with 11 miles of shoreline on Lake Michigan and it’s been designated as a “dark-sky preserve” which makes it an exceptional spot to go star-gazing or watch for the northern lights.Potawatomi State Park: Named in honor of the tribe that lived on the Green Bay shores before settlers arrived, this park has over 1,200 acres of rolling hills used for hiking, biking, and cross country skiing.
