When it comes to conflict with my team:

  I do my best to see it as a teachable moment. If I can add some wise words or solid advice, I’ll speak up, but I am also okay just listening and learning.

  I am quick to speak up and quick to move on. Once we’ve talked it out, I’m back on your team & ready to move forward with positivity and encouragement.

  I tend to avoid it at all costs. It’s easier for me to just fix the problem myself than to speak up and cause issues.

  I want to know exactly what happened, why it happened, and who was to blame. I expect answers and a plan detailing how this won’t happen again ASAP.

When someone wants to leave the team I tend to….

  Shrug and ask them for recommendations on a replacement. I keep team members at a professional distance for this very reason

  I usually take it really personally. It hurts to see or hear about that person for a while after.

  Feel sadness and anxiety. Losing a team member feels like losing a friend - did I do something wrong?!

  Have a hard time accepting a resignation. My team is my lifeline, I’ll do anything to get them to stay (or at least ask them to take on a few extra projects before they go).

I a perfect world, my meetings would:

  Last as long as needed. Details are life and I don’t want to miss a single second of what’s going on with my business. Everyone comes prepared and ready to contribute.

  Not happen! Ha If we have to have a meeting, they'd be short and sweet and virtual, please! I only call a meeting when it’s necessary, and I don’t need to hear every single detail. I’d much rather know my team is working than chatting away on Zoom.

  Happen often! I love brainstorming and collaborating with my team. Sometimes I’ll throw in a fun theme or dress code (PJ day!) to keep things fresh & fun.

  Are casual but productive. I love to catch up on everyone’s personal lives as long we still have time to knock-out everything on the agenda.

  Whenever they feel stuck or confused. I can’t always respond right away, but I try to clarify work and expectations when and where I can.

  As much as they’d like! I love daily check-ins on life and work. I value their feedback on all their assignments and how they’re feeling about the team and my leadership. My “door” is always open!

  In a direct and no fluff manner. I don’t have a ton of extra time to answer questions or concerns, but I want to be there as much as I can.
