Your financial adulthood is… in full flower
Wow. You are doing it. You are high level financial adulting and you should be so proud. If this comes as a surprise to you, let me explain... A financial adult doesn't know everything about personal finance and never makes mistakes. I still make mistakes all the time. A financial adult takes small consistent actions, learns from their mistakes, knows what's happening with their money, feels confident in their financial plans and understands the critical context of equity and personal finance. Part of being a financial adult is knowing that it's a lifelong journey. If you are looking for some next steps, I have you covered. Here are 5 money moves you can make to continue your financial adulting journey. 1. Keep up the amazing work! You are doing an amazing job so keep doing what you're doing. You should be very proud. 2. Don’t forget to incorporate rewards into your planning. Some of the most financially savvy I know don’t treat themselves enough. In order to keep our momentum going, we can build in some treats and rewards into our financial planning. Is there something you’ve really wanted to build into your budget? Can you make it happen? 3. Track your progress to see how far you’ve come. Whether it’s a spreadsheet or something more creative, it’s really motivating to track your progress over time as you work towards financial goals. When we don’t track our progress, we might feel like we’re not making any or all the work we’re doing is for nothing. Check in on your goals each quarter or even each month. Celebrate when you hit certain milestones. 4. Level up your financial adulthood. Dive into a new topic that might be more complex. Some examples - estate planning, taxes, insurance, consumer activism, or investing (I cover these all and more in my latest book). 5. Sign up for my weekly Money Musing newsletter. You'll get a money move you can make each week along with other bite-sized nuggets of financial wisdom. Sign up here. Let me introduce myself...Hello, hello 👋 My name is Ashley Feinstein Gerstley.I’m an author, CFP® professional, money coach and founder of the Fiscal Femme. After studying finance in college (at Wharton) and working in finance (as an investment banker and in corporate finance), I still knew nothing about my own money. When I switched from my high paying investment banking job to a job with a better lifestyle, I took a big pay cut and had to figure my money out. I started a blog (back in 2011) to share what I was learning and the rest is history.I now spend my days talking about (and thinking about) how to get you wealthy. The Fiscal Femme community has grown to over 200K and I have two books - The 30-Day Money Cleanse and Financial Adulting. P.S. I love hanging out on Instagram, so c’mon over and join me if we’re not connected yet.
