Your child is an... Kinesthetic Learner!
Congratulations, Kinesthetic Learner— by completing this quiz, you've shown commitment to understanding your child's dominant learning style. Each child learns differently on their terms, through various learning styles. However, only one learning style can lead the way. According to your responses, your child's dominant learning style is ... Kinesthetic! So, what does that mean? Keep reading, friend...Kinesthetic learners are in the minority of learning styles. Your child learns better by doing than looking, hearing, or reading and writing. They need to take a hands-on approach and try things out for themselves, which means traditional academic settings can be challenging. Since your homeschooler's dominant learning style involves getting physical, you'll need to be extra creative with your lesson plans. Don't worry; I've you covered! How Kinesthetic Learners Learn....Kinesthetic children are tactile learners. They learn by touching and doing. You understand and remember things through physical movement. Your "hands-on" homeschooler prefers to touch, move, build, hold, play, squish, dissect, draw and explore their lesson in a hands-on way. Let's get physical!Getting physical allows your homeschooler to comprehend what is being taught. Keep in mind that the difficulty of a traditional setting (i.e., textbooks) will be challenging for your child. A typical classroom setting lesson doesn't really make sense unless they see, hear it, and get physical in some way that brings it all together in their mind. Don't worry! There are plenty of homeschool resources to help you get creative with your at-home lesson plans. You can support your kinesthetic learner byBeing active and taking frequent breaks, creating fun homeschooling informative games, incorporating sensory toys/seats, encouraging physical activity, allowing for the disassembling and reassembling of an item, and much more. Remember, kinesthetic homeschoolers often speak with their hands and gestures and may have difficulty sitting still. So keep homeschool lessons moving!Fun fact about kinesthetic learners, this learning style is a do-er, and we need do-ers! Do-ers think out of the box and require you to do the same to help them learn to learn and understand new concepts. Remember, every child is unique and has a unique blend of learning styles. Kinesthetic is their dominant learning style, not something that defines them but helps you direct their education a little more clearly."Children are not things to be molded, but are people to be unfolded." — Jess Lair3 Tips to Help You Transform Your Child's Attitude Towards Learning 👇1. Learn Alongside ThemMonkey see monkey do, right? When your child notices you're excited about what they are learning, they are likely to mirror that behavior and approach learning at home with some pep in their step. On top of that, be prepared for any and all changing subjects, so you can point them in the right direction if they get lost along the way.2. Reward Hard WorkInstead of rewarding success, reward your child for their determination, drive, and hard work. You don't have to race out and buy them the latest toy — try taking them for ice cream or simply praising them and giving them a big hug or high-five. Positive Reinforcement is critical!!Hands-On tactile learners love to move around and take things apart. Try introducing an exercise routine or STEM assignments into daily activities. Speak to their love language and build something together. Test out fidget toys and sensory toys/chairs to encourage movement while learning. Remember, what's most important is that you acknowledge your child's efforts... again, positive behavioral support with consistency. You've got this!3. Pay AttentionAs this quiz suggests, every child learns uniquely, and just because your child may have trouble listening or can't focus unless getting physically involved with the curriculum doesn't mean they are any less intelligent. Instead of writing them off, tune into their interests. Notice how they've succeeded in the past and how you can use similar strategies to support them.
