Your limiting mindset is rooted in... Feelings of Vulnerability
Life could be so much easier if you didn't have to "put yourself out there." The idea of being seen sounds wonderful, in theory, but elicits a huge internal stop sign you struggle to get past. When it comes to hidden talents, you are overflowing with abundance, but feel blocked from bringing them to light for the world to see. This can show up as questioning your ability to trust yourself or someone else and feeling emotionally unsafe in situations where you need to open yourself up to another person. This feeling of being unsafe can lead to anxiety, fear, and a sense of being stuck or trapped. For you, analysis paralysis is about the vulnerability you feel when making a choice, not about the number of options to choose from. An example of this is having a fear of 'being scammed' when you consider investing in some kind of help, such as the services of a therapist, coach, or online course. It's as if life would be so much easier if you didn't have to rely on others. Asking yourself, "How do I know if it's worth it?" underneath can really mean, "How do I know I won't be harmed?"When your limiting mindset is rooted in emotional vulnerability, you innately carry a perception that your well-being or safety is at risk when making choices or taking actions that are different or new. For someone with so much talent and substance to offer, you can often struggle with anxiety over possible rejection or potentially being taken advantage of, which can all be tied back to emotional safety. Or lack thereof. The real challenge for you is to trust yourself, others, and the choices you make. And to see that setbacks don't need to feel like the worst case scenario or mean that you aren't a capable person. How do you know if you’re caught in this cycle of thought?Tick some boxes with me.Do you:☑️ Find it hard to trust another professional to help you to grow personally or professionally or in your own ability to choose the right professional to help☑️Feel anxious to spend money on what you need for yourself for fear you'll be taken advantage of or scammed☑️ Panic every time you need to make a decision to the point where you can't connect with your gut, let alone follow it☑️Check in with your entire network before you make a decision because you're anxious about making "the wrong one"☑️ Hold your breath waiting for the bad thing to happen after you make a big decision or take significant action, even if it was well thought out, researched, and planned☑️ Allow setbacks to feed an internal narrative that you've made a fatal error in your life, career or business☑️ Question whether or not you're cut out to be in the career you're in because it's hard for you to put yourself out there and go for that promotion in ways that seem so easy for others to doIt’s OK, we all struggle with vulnerability sometimes, so if you didn't check any boxes, go back and have another look. Remember, we're all in this together."Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change.”― Brene Brown Getting To Know YourselfTherapy is an often misunderstood practice, and while it does involve talking about feelings, it’s more about taking a closer look inside yourself to see what really makes you tick.Do you want to learn more about what is holding you back? And how to address some of the ways you unknowingly sabotage yourself? In addition to "stuck" experiences, let’s take a look at some of the foundations of this kind of therapy.Your Body Is Communicating, Too – One key is to recognize the connection between your body and the limiting thoughts you have and its significance in perpetuating a self-defeating narrative. It can be easy to disregard or write off the sensations your body gives you as just stress. It's important to pay attention to what your body is telling you before anxiety or panic sets in and stands in the way of living your life fully. With the help of a specially trained therapist, you can delve deep into where your narratives of self-judgment show up in your body, where they came from, and how to process them to restore a much-needed life balance. To learn more, check out the page on my website page about EMDR therapy and Brainspotting therapy.Your Mind Doesn't Want To Sabotage You – Yet, it can be very difficult to live the life you want to live when self-defeating thoughts get in the way of your progress. It isn't bad when your mind's system of checks and balances is functional, but when the scales tip and your thoughts become about what you can't do, what you're not deserving of, or devaluing who you are as a person, it's time to look deeper at where these disparaging thoughts originated.Learn how the logical and emotional parts of your mind communicate and understand what it means when that communication is blocked, how this may be showing up in your life, and what can be done to re-establish this communication. Unraveling Your Autopilot – It’s easy to live your day-to-day life without realizing the thoughts you have and the actions you do because they are ingrained in routine and clouded by unawareness. Often your autopilot is unremarkable. Doing your usual morning routine, or your daily ritual of listing tasks for the day, stuff that's pretty benign. However, your autopilot can also work under the radar to think self-defeating thoughts or trigger you to overreact to seemingly harmless circumstances. When your autopilot works for you, it can take care of business so you don't have to always focus on a task. When it works against you, it can inhibit your growth and create unnecessary challenges.Bringing awareness to your autopilot is a core focus of any therapeutic journey. Check out my online Intensive and Non-intensive services pages on my website to learn more about your autopilot, and how you can align your life with who you truly are.Self-Awareness & Understanding Are Key...Hello!
