Your Ayurvedic Nervous System Type is... Kapha
Friend, you're deeply grounded β and your heart is as big and sweet as it gets. once you spread your roots, you're hard to move. You value consistency and slow, persistent progress. You know that small steps forward are just as valuable as a short-lived sprint. On top of that, you're an unfailingly loyal friend. You never leave loved ones behind. And you are generally chill AF.So what's your hold up? Sometimes you're a little too stable. You tend to get stuck in routines even if they no longer serve you. You may also avoid physical activity β you prefer to sit back and watch circumstances unfold. It takes a lot to stress you out, but when out of balance you tend towards lethargy, apathy and attachment. You can tend toward a hyper parasympathetic or "freeze" response when stress gets the best of you. Bring Yourself into Balance with These Three Tips...1) You Are What You EatEverything is connected. What you eat affects your mind and nervous system. I know that good food is one of your love languages, especially the sweet stuff. But if you find yourself in a lethargic, cloudy headed place try to warm and lighten it up. Kapha dosha is heavy, thick and cool so avoid rich and heavy foods (Yep, I'm talking about ice cream). Favor warm and light foods. A little spice is great. Drink a cup of ginger tea to wake up sluggish Kapha. And Kapha Dosha can even benefit from a little caffeine (as long as vata and pitta are in balance). Tastes that balance Kapha: Pungent, Astringent, Bitter2) Move Your Body I know it can be hard to get moving sometimes. But I also know that once you do, you have amazing stamina. You are strong and can outlast most folks once you get moving. Your nervous system can really benefit from strenous physical activity, especially when you are in a place of feeling stuck or frozen. If going to the gym isn't your thing, think outside the box. How about a one song dance party, or 5 minutes of jumping jacks?3)Light and WarmYou are grounded and generally resilient, but all that earth energy can turn to mud and you can get stuck. When you feel the weight of the world is keeping you down, make your mantra "light and warm". Take a sauna, do some vigorous exercise, try some stimulating breathwork like Breath of Fire or try a wallking meditation. Surround yourself with the light and energizing scents of cloves, cinnamom, ginger, citrus, eucalyptus, rosemary or peppermint. Wait Up a Sec β Let Me Introduce MyselfEvery person is unique. There is no "one size fits all" when it comes to nervous system health. I love to work with women, weaving Ayurveda and somatic practices to help them learn more about their unique constitution and how to listen to their bodies to cultivate a resilient and vibrant life. I also want to acknowledge that this quiz is for fun and may give you some insight, but we are complex creatures and a 10 question quiz can't sum up all of your nuances and lived experiences!
